Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil has anti fungal property. It works effectively in treating dandruff. Take essential oil of tea tree oil. Since essential oils are usually quite strong, mix 10 drops of tea tree oil in any carrier oil. Carrier oil can be olive oil or coconut oil. Mix both and apply on hair and scalp. Massage gently. Wash hair with a mild shampoo after an hour.
Banana, Onion And Honey
Onion and honey have anti inflammatory and anti bacterial properties. They help in reducing flakes from scalp. Take an over ripened banana and mix juice of one onion in it. Also, add a tablespoon of honey to it.
Mix all the ingredients well. It would be better if banana is mixed in a blender otherwise the fibers of the banana will stick to strands of hair making it difficult to remove them upon washing. Apply the paste on head and leave for 20 minutes. After that, rinse hair with plain water and wash with a mild shampoo.
Aloe Vera
Aloe vera has cooling and healing properties. It works as anti inflammatory lotion. Take pure aloe vera gel and massage on scalp and hair. Wash hair after an hour. Repeat the process once or twice in a week. You will find relief from itchy scalp within 3-4 applications.
Hot Oil Massage
Hot oil massage is an effective home remedy for itchy and dry scalp. Hot oil massage helps in proper blood circulation to the head which in turn nourishes hair and reduces dryness. Take half cup of any massaging oil like olive or coconut oil and warm it a little. With the help of cotton, spread oil in the partitions of hair.
Now, with circular and slow movement, massage for 10 minutes. This will increase blood flow to the scalp. Also, tie a hot towel on head after massaging. This will help oil to penetrate into the scalp. Do not carry on hot oil massage if your scalp is oily.
Vinegar
Vinegar is also quite effective in treating itchy scalp. Dilute vinegar with water in the ratio of 1:3 with one part vinegar and three parts water. First wet hair with normal water and then apply vinegar.
Leave for 10 minutes and then wash head with shampoo. Vinegar has anti inflammatory and anti fungal properties. You can also use apple cider vinegar for getting comfort from itchy scalp.
Lemon
Lemon is acidic in nature. It removes dirt and sebum from scalp. Since, pure lemon juice will get too acidic, it might damage hair strands. So, dilute lemon juice with either water or oil and apply on scalp. Wash head after 10 minutes.
