Dyeing your hair, robs the hair all it’s nutrients. The chemicals in the dyes makes the hairs dry and brittle. Damage to hairs due to excessive dying are more permanent in nature. Avoid it if you can. If it not possible then make sure that time period between two subsequent dyes are more than six weeks. Always use dyes from reputed companies, strictly follow the instructions and always apply a hair conditioner after dying your hair.

Prolonged illness and use of antibiotics may also result in loss of hair. If you suspect that medication is giving you hair loss then immediately talk to your doctor and ask him to change the prescription. If changed, then its okay, else ask your doctor to provide solution to lessen the side effects of the medication.

The hot, dry air of hair dryers make the hair extremely dry and brittle, it also weakens the root. It is highly advisable that you do not use hair dryers. Avoid Harsh Sunlight

No Soap
Never use a bar of soap for washing your hair. Always wash your hair with a very mild shampoo. The fillers and chemicals of the soap can wreck your hair beyond repair. And also try to condition your hair after every wash.

Pampering your hair can work wonders to your hair. With your fingertips apply warm organic oil to your scalp, rubbing it vigorously. Coconut, mustard or olive oil are the best oil for hair massage. Coconut oil makes the hair more supple, mustard oil is anti-bacterial and anti-viral, whereas olive oil gives the hair more bounce.
You can choose the oil according to your requirement and preference. After applying the oil, soak a towel in hot water, squeeze out excess water and wrap it around your head as a turban. DIY an excellent herbal shampoo with Amala (Indian Gooseberry), Shikakai (Acacia concinna) and Reetha (soap nuts). Take equal quantity of dried Amala, Shikakai and Reetha, add four times of water by volume, boil the mixture till water is reduced to half, strain with a muslin cloth and bottle. An excellent quality of shampoo is in your possession.
Replace your commercial shampoo with this and use it for cleansing your hair. Shikakai is a mild cleanser that cleans hair without robbing it of essential oils. Reetha helps in removing dirt from the scalp. Amala stops the hair from drying and prevents premature graying of hair. These three ingredients together is panacea for all hair problems.
Increase Protein Intake
Hairs are made up of proteins; insufficient or poor quality protein intake will affect the robustness of hairs. You will have to get the proteins from food. Proteins from hair shampoo is just a fad and colossal waste of money. A protein rich diet will only provide you with proteins for strong hair. Rich sources of proteins are legumes, grams, eggs, poultry, milk, lean meat, etc.
Iron, Vitamin C, Omega-3 and Zinc
Ensure that you have adequate quantity of Iron, Vitamin C, Omega-3 and Zinc; these are the nutrients that preserve and cultivate hair growth. With protein, iron is also required in making of hairs. Vitamin C is required for better absorption of iron. Omega-3 prevents the hair from becoming dry and brittle and zinc, nourishes the hair. You can get vitamin-c from citrous fruits.
